Video Transmission Using five types of cables in Dynamic Information Publishing

Dynamic notices are undoubtedly a growing market. In the retail environment, it can run a variety of applications. For example, retail virtual notices running on UTP (unshielded twisted pair pairs), also known as Category 5 cables, include news and information content that entertain customers and stay online at the grocery store; elevator room advertisements, menu contents in fast food restaurants, etc.

With the emergence of powerful computers, complex video content streams are combined with powerful update tools, multi-task video cards, and large color plasma displays, this allows the virtual notice Application to effectively reach a broad market. Using this technology, virtual notices have become an effective profit model. These applications are turning their aspirations into reality.

21-century notices are supported by 19 and 20-century infrastructure.

The world's best retail notice messages are delivered through the best-made video tools and managed and presented on the best computers using the available notice technology, it is displayed on the largest and highest quality display screen. However, if you cannot transmit the video content to the display screen, everything is blank!

In the real world, buildings were built at least in the 1980s S, and are generally not designed for the cabling requirements of the Information Age. Cabling slots and channels are generally crowded. Cables required to support high-definition videos (VGA or XGA at least) (for example, coaxial cables connected at the top of a 5 BNC connector or standard VGA cables connected at the top of a 15-pin connector) most existing building structures cannot be laid at all, and these cables are required for most video notice applications. In addition to the video content that must be transmitted, a control line (RS232 cable) must be laid from the computer to the display, which is a difficult choice for system installation companies.

Various options

Because the Building Code usually requires VGA cables and RS232 cables to pass through the catheter or turntable, and these pipes and the turntable are often blocked, the installer has to make a choice to face some difficulties:

1 install a new large catheter or tray (which is usually a very expensive proposition );

2 If there is space in the catheter, you can cut off the 15-pin connector on one end of the VGA cable and want the cable to be rolled back. Then, if your cable reaches your destination, you must reinstall the 15-pin connector to connect to the VGA cable.

The quality of the on-site connection may not meet the requirements of the factory standards. Therefore, the video quality may be impaired. Wiring large Cables like VGA cables must be very expensive, and the cost of re-connecting is very high and takes a long time.

3. Find a simpler installation medium to transmit the XGA video signal and/or serial control signal to the display screen.

Optional transmission scheme

1 wireless technology is certainly applicable to the principle of "no human interference with congested pipelines and cable trenches. Wireless technology is faced with bandwidth, cost, reliability, and performance compromise. Using Wireless Technology to transmit real-time, full-motion XGA videos, serial control of Full-modem, and other tasks is daunting. The existing practical (affordable) wireless solution cannot provide the transmission capability of extracting videos in real time. The signal density on site directly affects the signal delay. The more wireless links there are, the more bandwidth competition in the air, and the more obvious the human defects and latency caused by compression. If the required bandwidth can be fully provided, it cannot be provided in a cost-effective manner.

2 running Ethernet on UTP will cut the size of cabling laid in pallets and pipelines. It also eliminates the need for long serial control lines because the control computer is next to the display screen. The problem with this solution is that the cost of placing a computer next to each display, coupled with the cost of software authorization for each display, is huge. Therefore, this is generally not allowed. The distance from the server/hub to any network computer (each display screen) is limited to 300, which limits the distance that such applications can reach. More importantly, the practice of Remote Computer placement along with the display greatly compromises the advantage of this method.

3. The problems encountered during transmission over the Internet are exactly the same as those encountered during transmission over Ethernet. In addition, the inherent reliability problems of video stream transmission over the Internet are as follows, it is unacceptable in an environment where "smooth transmission of content is absolutely important.

Where is the answer?

The answer is to transmit video and serial control signals over dedicated UTP cabling. Compared with VGA or coaxial cables, UTP has the advantage of finer line diameter, lower cost, and more convenient laying. Currently, most commercial buildings have installed a complete matrix infrastructure consisting of UTP cables. In most municipal facilities, UTP does not need to pass through pipelines or pallets. In fact, it can usually be laid directly on the ceiling tile and under the carpet. In addition, the cost of the line is much lower than any other options. Magenta Research has released a MultiView product that eliminates the problem of transmitting XGA videos on UTP. MultiView AK1500 can transmit full motion and real-time XGA videos to a location 450 metres away. Even at this distance, excellent video quality makes it difficult to distinguish between remote display and local display. Magenta's MultiView series are specifically designed for the digital notice market, unlike most other systems currently used in the market. We can see this from the transmission distance and shape factor of our system. The industry-leading transmission distance and almost unlimited wiring capabilities make the MultiView Series A Choice for integrated vendors in digital notice applications.
