Current situation:
install Ubuntu on mobile hard drive , PC can boot from the U disk, choose Ubuntu in Grub to run Ubuntu independently .
Win8 System is installed on PC
Goal:
in the install VirtualBox in Win8and run the virtual machine to install Ubuntu already installed on the mobile hard drive .
Win8 the removable hard disk in the Disk Manager to view the removable hard disk as disk 1(PC hard disk bit disk 0)
Start with Administrator cmd window , go to VirtualBox 's installation directory, run:
c:\programfiles\oracle\virtualbox>vboxmanage Internalcommandscreaterawvmdk-fi
Lenamed:\usbdisk.vmdk-rawdisk \\.\physicaldrive1
Rawhost disk access VMDK file D:\USBDISK.VMDK created successfully.
PhysicalDrive1 that corresponds to disk 1, which generates a virtual disk file (usbdisk.vmdk) that VirtualBox can loadafter a successful run
Run as Administrator VirtualBox , create a new virtual machine, select the currently existing disk when you add the virtual disk, and specify the USBDISK.VMDK that you just generated .
If you do not run VirtualBox as an administrator , the following error occurs when you load a virtual disk file
Open Hard Disk file D:\USBDISK.VMDK failed .
Permission problem accessing the file for the medium ' D:\USBDISK.VMDK ' (verr_access_denied). start the virtual machine to run Ubuntu successfully. Full screen can be installed after guestaddition.
The test is booted directly from the removable hard drive and runs independently of Ubuntu success, unaffected.
VirtualBox booting the Ubuntu system on a removable hard drive
