Some of these components must be installed on the development computer, while others may be installed on the remote computer.

Problems
Why can't I create a local WEB application? You do not have Internet information Services (IIS) installed on this computer. Web applications and Web services require both IIS and FrontPage Server Extensions to be installed locally to develop these project types. Why do I receive an error when I compile the code that contains the MessageQueue component? If you do not have Microsoft Windows Message Queuing installed on your computer, you may receive an error message that indicates a missing Mqoa.dll file when you attempt to compile code that uses Message Queuing. For more information, see Introduction to Messaging.
How do I enable debugging on another computer? The Visual Studio remote debugging component must be installed on any computer that you want to debug from another computer.
Why do I get an error when I try to debug a Web application on NT4? Visual Studio does not support debugging an ASP Web application on a Windows NT 4 Web server. For more information, see the error while trying to Run project:unable to Start debugging on the Web server and Troubleshooting Web Projects.
Do you have features that are not supported by Windows NT 4.0? Windows NT 4.0 does not support ASP. NET, COM + 1.0 transactions, or multiprocessor garbage collection. These features are available only on Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

Installing Internet Information Services and Internet Information Server
You must have IIS installed to create a local Web application and Web service. If you did not install IIS when you installed this product, follow these steps.
install IIS on Windows 2000 or Windows XP
- Insert the Visual Studio Windows components update CD and ignore autorun information.

- On the Start menu, select Settings, and then select Control Panel.
- In Control Panel, select Add/Remove Programs, and then select Add/Remove Windows components.
- In the Windows Components Wizard, select Internet Information Services (IIS) from the Components list.

- When the installation is complete, return to add/Remove Programs.
- Select the installed Visual Studio. NET product, such as Visual Studio. NET Enterprise Edition or Visual Basic. NET), and then select Change.

Installing the Message Queuing service
If you do not have Microsoft Message Queuing installed on your computer, you may receive an error message indicating that the Mqoa.dll file is missing when you attempt to compile code that uses Message Queuing.
Installing the Message Queuing service on Windows 2000 and Windows XP
- On the Start menu, select Settings, and then select Control Panel.
- In Control Panel, select Add/Remove Programs, and then select Add/Remove Windows components.
- In the Windows Components wizard, select Message Queuing service from the components list.
- Click Next, and then follow the remaining steps.
Installing the Message Queuing service on Windows NT 4
- Download and install Windows NT4 from the http://www.microsoft.com/NTServer/nts/downloads/recommended/NT4OptPk/default.asp location on the Internet Option Pack. Be sure to choose to install Microsoft message Queue Server 1.0.
To install the Visual Studio remote Debugger
The Visual Studio Remote Debugger allows one or more computers to be set as a debug platform, while the other computer is your test platform. The Visual Studio Remote debugger can be installed on Windows NT4.0 and Windows 98 as well as later versions of Windows. This component includes files that are required for SQL, TSQL, native, managed, and script debugging. For more information, see Setting Up Remote debugging.
