In the same network segment, the machine name of each machine must be unique, do not allow duplication, if the machine name conflict occurs, it will affect the user's normal work. The conflicting machine will not work properly, other users can not normally access the shared resources of these machines, in addition, the machine name conflict will also cause inconvenience to the management of network administrator.

To solve this problem, you need to modify the duplicate machine name. To modify the local machine name method, presumably everyone is not unfamiliar. But have you tried to modify the machine name remotely? It is not easy to do this in previous versions of Windows Server 2003 (Windows 2003), requiring Terminal Server support. The http://www.it8g.com expert tells us that the Web Access interface provided by Windows 2003 effectively simplifies the process, making it easy for you to remotely modify the Windows 2003 machine name. In this way, people do not have to go to the machine to be modified as before.

Tip: Remote Client system is not any restrictions, as long as users can access the Internet, can run IE browser. Machines that are to be remotely modified by the machine name must use the Windows 2003 System.

On the remote client, open IE browser and enter "https://Windows 2003 server IP address: 8098" in the address bar, such as "https://192.168.0.1:8098", where "192.168.0.1" is Windows 2003 Server IP Address, "8098" for remote maintenance use the port number (note that access to Windows 2003 server using the "https" protocol, is not a common "http" protocol). In the pop-up Login dialog box, enter the administrator username and password, click "OK" button, you can log in to the Web Access interface management interface.

Next, in the "Welcome" interface, click the "Set server name" Connection, go to the "Server Identification" page, and then in the "Server name" column, enter a new machine name, click the "OK" button, restart the Windows 2003 server, you can make just the settings take effect.

It is important to note that, for security reasons, Windows 2003 does not provide a Web Access interface by default and must be set manually. On the Windows 2003 server side, click start → settings → control Panel, and then run Add or Remove Programs and switch to the Add/Remove Windows Components page in the pop-up window. In the Windows Components Wizard dialog box, go to the application Server →internet Information Services (IIS) → World Wide Web service option, select the remote Management (HTML) component, and then click the "OK" button.
