File sharing refers to a set of properties that are used when a file, folder, or partition of a hard disk is in a network environment, generally meaning that multiple users can open or use the same file or data at the same time. Sometimes, however, you may encounter a situation where you cannot find a sharing option.

What if Windows right-click does not have sharing options?

Problem phenomenon:

When we want to share a file under window2003, we find that right-clicking the folder does not have a "share" option.

Steps to resolve:

First verify: A. Whether the administrator is logged on as the local connection property, B. " Whether the service for file printer sharing is installed

And then:

1. Right-click: My Computer-admin-service, check whether the Server service and Workstation service are started.

In general, it is because these two services are not started and can be started manually.

Server: This computer is supported for file, print, and named pipe sharing over the network. These features are not available if the service is stopped.

Workstation: Use the SMB protocol to create and maintain a connection between the client network and the remote server. If this service is stopped, these connections will not be available. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.

2. Start the service

(1) Right click: server-start

(2) Right click: workstation-start

3, under normal circumstances, right click will appear "sharing" option, if not yet:

Because the Windows system will share a hidden ipc$ by default, some of the right-click menus have a "shared" system, go to Computer Management-shared folders, double-click "Share", you will be able to see that a ipc$ has been shared. If you delete it, you will notice that the "share" in the right-click menu disappears.

There is no "share" in the right-click menu for some systems, and it may be that ipc$ sharing is disabled with some optimization tools. Go to Computer Management-shared folder, double-click "Share", any new shared folder. You will find that "sharing" in the right-click menu is back.

The operation is as follows:

First step: Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Computer Management-shared folders, right-click on "New File sharing"

Step two: Click on: "Next"

Step Three: Click "Browse" to select the folder you want to share, click "Next"

Fourth step: Enter the share name, by default, click "Next"

Fifth Step: Select permissions, here we choose the second one, if there are other requirements can also choose other options.

Sixth step: Success here, click "Close"

Seventh step: Find the shared folder directory, can be displayed as a shared directory

Eighth Step: Right-click the folder and you can see: Sharing and security options

Finally: If you are browsing a folder on the network,

For example, we often use: Start-run--192.168.1.10xx if not, may be related to the Computer Browser service.

Computer Browser: Maintains an updated list of computers on the network and provides the list to the computer for specified browsing. If the service is stopped, the list will not be updated or maintained. If the service is disabled, any services that are directly dependent on this service will fail to start.
