Who is the real hardware screening expert?

Monitor your computer hardware. I am a website editor, but I am often regarded as a computer master by my friends. They buy new computers or upgrade their old computers, I will always invite the author as a "Amulet", but after all, the author is just a website editing. I also have some knowledge about many hardware knowledge and hardware purchasing skills. Standing in front of all kinds of old JS, I am really confused, to put IT bluntly, the author is a decoration that can play a "deterrent" role due to the background of the IT profession. So every time I enter the computer city, I will bring a bunch of hardware testing software to myself "brave ".

　　I. Hardware fraud is not an alarmist

After a computer is assembled, many friends always use their mouse to right-click "my computer" and open the "system attributes" dialog box (1 ), in this way, we can see whether the seller is "Two deductions in grams". For example, if you explicitly pick up the goods with 1 GB DDR2 memory, however, if the "System Properties" dialog box displays MB of memory, it indicates that the seller has "changed the memory" hardware ".

In fact, the most common method for judging the hardware specification has been cleverly used by many JS. They have adopted some very simple modification methods, you can modify the various hardware specifications in the System Properties dialog box to create a blind scam. In fact, all the hardware specifications in the "System Properties" dialog box in the operating system are recorded in the c: windowssystem32dllcache folder named "sysdm. in the special files of cpl, merchants can open sysdm through some special software (such as reshacker and exclaim. cpl file and modify the relevant parameters, "sysdm. after the parameters in the cpl file are modified, the various hardware specifications such as processor and memory in the "System Properties" dialog box can be totally different (2 ). In addition, by modifying the key values of the Registry and related parameters in Dxdiag, merchants can also arbitrarily modify hard disk capacity, motherboard model and display card display.

Figure 2 can modify the information here I can also give another example, the merchant only with a small free software called "OEM-DIY brand self-made", through a few steps of the district settings, you can change an ordinary assembled computer into a brand computer (3, figure 4 )! Of course, it is rare to convert an assembled computer into a brand computer that requires more complex hardware camouflage, here is just to show you a way to fake it by modifying "system attributes.

The blind-eye scam described above is only one of the most common, primitive, and technical deception methods that users encounter when purchasing or upgrading their own computers, for some users who have certain knowledge about hardware and software, sellers will also adopt more and more concealed deception methods, such as second-hand hardware renovation, CPU jumper clock speed modification, display card polishing, and other deception means, or a variety of comprehensive application of deception means, many endless deception means will often make the market's Hardware "old bird" difficult to defend against.

However, from the perspective of "Dial-Up To The essence", no matter what blind scam or deception a merchant uses, what hardware is the hardware that is assembled into a computer, A single-core CPU processor, no matter how emphasized, modified, or forged by the merchant, cannot become a real dual-core CPU processor! In this case, you can use any CPU testing software, such as Cpu-Z, to perform a simple test. The software can automatically detect CPU data, including CPU model, kernel, clock speed, multiplier, external frequency, bus, cache metrics, CPU voltage, fan speed and temperature, it is very comprehensive (5 ). Therefore, any form of hardware fraud and deception is "blind". In the face of some professional hardware testing software, all the "small actions" will surely show their original shape.

In fact, it is not just the CPU, such as hard disk fraud, memory fraud, and the "steal-and-Swap-out" of the video card on the cache. There are also specialized targeted detection software, such as hard disk detection, I have always liked the small "HD Tune ", it can automatically detect a series of Hard Disk information, including the hard disk firmware version, serial number, capacity, cache size, and the current Ultra DMA mode. It can also detect the hard disk transmission rate, health status, and temperature at the same time. detection and disk surface scan among other professional inspections (6 ). However, this software is inconvenient, that is, it needs to be installed during use and cannot be directly run and used in a USB flash drive.

I used a USB flash drive that stores six hardware detection software including "Cpu-Z" and "HD Tune" to prevent fraud, it takes a lot of time to install and switch a computer's components. But now I have replaced the USB flash drive with the "Windows optimization master", and basically deleted the original scattered hardware detection software. The reason for doing so is roughly as follows: first, the computer hardware detection and evaluation functions provided by the "Windows optimization master" are very comprehensive, users can conveniently and accurately perform intelligent detection on almost all hardware components in the computer, including the motherboard, CPU, hard disk, display card, optical drive, and display; second, the software can run on a USB flash drive anytime, anywhere without installation, and can be used for free for a long time. Third, "Windows master" has always been a well-known brand software, in this way, the authority of the seller's actual measurement data has to be recognized (7 ).
