Windows PowerShell integrated Scripting Environment (ISE) is a host application for Windows PowerShell. In Windows PowerShell ISE, you can run commands and write, test, and debug scripts in a single Windows graphical user interface that features multi-line editing, Tab completion, syntax coloring, selective execution, context-sensitive help, and more. It also supports writing languages from right to left. This host application can also include a maximum of eight sessions. You can customize the appearance of Windows PowerShell ISE. Windows PowerShell Ise also has its own Windows PowerShell configuration file, where you can store functions, aliases, variables, and commands used in Windows PowerShell ise.
Start Windows PowerShell ISE
- In Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, and later Windows, on the Start menu, click Start, All Programs, accessories, Windows PowerShell folder, and the Windows PowerShell ISE "item.
- In Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, to start Windows PowerShell, on the Start menu, click Start, then programs, accessories, Windows PowerShell folders, and Windows PowerShell ISE "item.
- In the Windows PowerShell console, Cmd.exe, or the Run box, type Powershell_ise.exe.
