Boot PV GUEST with NFS

1.     Compilingthe Guest kernel, notice that bellow features should be compiled within kernel:

CONFIG_NFS_FS

CONFIG_ROOT_NFS

CONFIG_NET_ETHERNET

Frontend driver

 

2.     Createroot filesystem

ü  Moute a virtual disck:

>mount –t ext3 –o loop,offset=32256~/centos.img /mnt

ü  Copy filesystem to nfs shared directory:

       >rsync –av –progress /mnt/ /nfs

ü  Changes files’ property:

>chmod 777 –R /nfs/

ü  Modify /nfs/etc/fstab

#LABEL=/              /      ext3       default   0 0

192.168.1.1:/nfs   /      nfs  rw          0 0

 

3.     Xenconfigure file

Kernel = “/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18.8-xenU”

Memory = 256

Name = “PV”

Vcpus = 1

Vif = [ ‘mac=00:16:3e:00:00:11,bridge=eth0’ ]

Root = ‘/dev/nfs’

Nfs_server = ‘192.168.1.2’

Nfs_root = ‘/root/yewei/nfs’

Ip = ‘192.168.1.100’
