unix系統中man出現“nothing appropriate”

   最近在一台新部署的伺服器上用man -f查閱協助的資訊的時候遇上竟然會報“nothing appropriate”，當時以為是man沒有安裝於是就用yum安裝了下，結果發現man是有安裝過的，於是就man man去找-f的參數選項去看了下，有這一句“Equivalent to whatis.”man -f 其實就是使用whatis，於是就用whatis結果發現不能用，於是又man  whatis結果發現了這一句：

The whatis database is created using the command /usr/sbin/makewhatis.

原來man -f 就是使用whatis或者是apropos，當然這兩個指令必須要用root使用者才能使用，而使用whatis或者是apropos必須要建立whatis的資料庫才行於是運行了makewhatis後再用man -f看了下正常了
