一 perforce（p4）

perforce是集中式的商業的SCM軟體。優點如下：
1）被證明的SCM解決方案，全球超過5000家軟體公司使用；
2）無限制的延展性，高效能的架構支援2到8000使用者的使用；
3）快速的SCM操作，perforce server和client通過高度定製的流訊息協議傳輸；
4）全功能的跨平台的基於QT的圖形UI；
5）支援分布式跨國的軟體Team Dev，perforce proxy使得跨國公司在全球的協作開發仍然高效；
6）與常用的其他軟體開發相關的軟體的高度整合，例如visualstudio，Eclipse，office等；

二 perforce組件

 

1）perforce server, 管理版本檔案，記錄使用者操作和活動到統一的資料庫；
2）perforce command line client, 命令列的client；
3）perforce visual client，跨平台的圖形UI的client；
4）perforce merge tool，用來merge的工具，還包含了perforce diff用來比較檔案；
5）perforce proxy，用來支援分布式的開發，跨國公司，不同地區高效地使用同一個perforce server；
6）perforce web client，用來通過web browser來訪問和進行p4client的操作；
7）perforce plugins，各種IDE（visual studio，eclipse），bug track，build tools，office，Adobe Photoshop and Autodesk Softimage, 3ds Max and Maya系統的的plugins；
8）perforce reporting，通過report工具對perforce server的datebase產生report；
9）perforce ftp，用perforce ftp client 來訪問perforce server；

10）P4提供二次開發支援，支援的語言有C/C++，JAVA，Perl，Ruby，Python，PHP，Object-C，Windows COM；
11）P4toDB提供了將P4的Metadata複製到各種其他的主流的資料庫進行report和analysis，其他的資料庫包括DB2, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL and Postgres databases；
12）遷移，從其他的SCM到P4的遷移，支援clearcase，microsoft TFS，VSS，CVS，SVN等到P4的遷移；
