什麼是ADFS?

ADFS的全稱是Active Directory Federation Services.

 

ADFS是基於Web的單點登入(Single Sign-On (SSO))的標準, 它通過實現了foreast間的claim based authentication而了開啟了聯合身份(federated identity).

 

Claim based authentication是一種認證使用者的過程, 它的實現基於裝在trusted token中的關於使用者身份的一系列claims. 這樣的一個token通常是由一個能夠通過其他途徑來認證使用者的一個實體來產生並賦予的, 並且這個實體還得被實現了claim based authentication的實體所信任.

 

在ADFS中, 身份的聯合(identity federation )是通過在兩個組織的安全邊界間建立信任關係來實現的. 在一端(account side)的federation server 負責通過在Active Directory domain services中的標準方式認證一個使用者, 然後產生一個包含一系列包含有關這個使用者的claims的token, 包括federation server的實體本身. 另一端(resource side), 另一個federation server會校正這個token, 然後產生另一個token供本機伺服器接受claimd identify所用. 這允許系統為它的資源提對另外一個安全邊界的某使用者供可控制的存取權限, 而不需要讓這個使用者直接登入系統, 也不需要兩個系統共用使用者的identify和密碼.

 

ADFS與Active Directory Domain Services進行了整合, 使用Domain Services作為identify provicer. ADFS可以與其他的符合WS-* 和 SAML 2.0的federation services相容.
