14RT simple, no-loss GPT conversion, and quick installation of UEFI

UEFI can only start the boot loader in the fat/fat32 format. If the USB flash disk is not in the fat/fat32 format, format it into this format. Otherwise, UEFI cannot boot the system.

Note:
1. The data on the computer disk will be retained without data transfer (except for the data on the drive letter of the installation system, we recommend that you back up all important data );
2. Complex commands such as area partitioning are not required;
3. This method is only applicable to 14RT. The BOIS and operation steps on other computers may be different;

Preparation tools:
1. One USB flash drive, 4 GB or above;
2. One WIN8 system disk (or copy the system to the USB flash disk after decompression );
3. PE startup software (I am using the USB flash drive PE software of "computer store", which is not bad );

Steps:
1. Upgrade BOIS, back up the file of the drive letter where you want to install win8, and remember the key of the purchased win 8 system;
2. Back up the USB flash disk to your computer. Then, insert the USB flash disk into your computer to run the PE software and install the PE on the USB flash disk;
3. restart the computer, press F12 to enter the boot system, boot the system from the U disk, and enter the PE selection interface. We recommend that you select win7 PE (other blue screens may be used );
4. after entering PE, run the DiskGenius software in the WIN7 PE system and right-click your hard disk (not a drive letter, but your hard disk ), select to convert the Partition Table type to the GUID format (thanks to zuzhou901006 );

Warning I am not liable for any loss of hard disk files when using this method, but I do not guarantee that the operation method is different from the software, resulting in data loss;
5. Shut down, unplug the PE system USB flash drive, and insert the WIN8 system disk (or extract the system to the root directory of the USB flash drive );
6. boot, F12 enters boot, select Change boot mode setting in Other Options, and select the second option, UEFI boot mode. (This BOIS seems a little BUG in this step. The first option is the traditional mode, and the second option is the UEFI mode. However, in a combination, the first item is exactly the same as the second one, all are in UEFI mode. The name may be incorrect ). Secure boot off/on can be decided by yourself. It is recommended to enable security mode.


7. After UEFI mode is selected, the system disk (or USB flash drive) will be displayed, the installation interface will be displayed, and the win8 key will be entered;
PS: If steps 6th and 7 cannot enter the installation interface, follow these steps: (Steps 6th and 7 can be completely omitted and the installation interface can be successfully entered)
Insert a USB flash drive with a win8 system, press F2 at startup, select boot, select UEFI in Boot list option, press enter in add boot option, and enter the name in boot option name, in file system list, select the USB one (press Tab to switch the cursor position), press enter, and select bootmgr. if no, you can select bootx64.efi under efi \ boot (either ). Press the Tab key to switch to yes, click "OK", and then use the "+" and "-" sign to adjust the name you just named and direct it to the top. Save and exit BOIS. At this time, you can enter the installation interface.

8. when selecting the installation location, format the drive letter where you want to install win8. You do not need to create a drive letter or specify a disk symbol for the drive letter. After formatting, select the blue bars to the disk (that is, install win8 to this position) and click Next, wait (the system will divide a m recovery partition and a m EFI system partition by default );

9. the opportunity for the first start is relatively slow. You need to configure the computer. During the second cold start, the boot speed is 9.8 s, and the tests are within 10 s (General 5400-to-mechanical hard drive). CAD2013 is installed, after Office 2010 and Adobe Acrobat X Pro 10.1, no optimizations were made and the boot speed was around 13 s.
