Graduation thesis is different from general small papers, especially Master's thesis or doctoral thesis. Generally, there are four or five small papers, and the master's thesis usually has 50 or 60 pages, and some even 70 or 80 pages. Therefore, it is very painful to manually modify some things. There are at least two pain points: Automatic directory generation and numbering, and references. This article will talk about tips from these two aspects, which are very convenient to generate automatically.

 

Let's talk about two types of pain points.

 

After setting the directory structure of the article, you suddenly find that you want to add or delete a chapter in the middle. It is easy to add or delete a chapter, but the sequent effect is that the subsequent numbers must be changed. For example, if you want to delete Chapter 2, the third chapter of the principle should be changed to Chapter 2, and the subsequent content should be moved and added, which is very troublesome.

 

The second case is the bidding of reference documents. There are dozens of references in the master's thesis. Generally, the papers require that reference documents be listed in the order of reference. If you need to add a new reference, the top labels of these references will change.

 

Automatically generate a directory. In short, switch the document to the Outline View and set the outline level of the text you want to set. If the outline level is set to level 1, the level 1 directory is usually set to level 3, which will generate Level 1, level 2, and level 3 directories. After setting, click "insert" -- & gt; "Reference" -- & gt; "index and directory" where you want to insert a directory. The format is set.

 

Now let's talk about the two simple solutions.

 

First, you must set the paragraph number. Set the level-1 directory to level-1, level-2 Directory to level-2, and so on. Set the document to the paragraph number. One of the major advantages of setting a paragraph number is that when a project is inserted or deleted, the subsequent changes will change, so this solves the problem of adding and deleting an intermediate project and modifying the subsequent number at the same time.

 

To update a directory, you only need to click "Update directory" under "Outline View" or right-click the directory in the page view and select "Update domain.

 

After you set the reference document to a paragraph number, click "insert" -- & gt; "Reference" -- & gt; "cross reference" where you want to insert reference documents ", find the reference number. Then set the format by yourself.

 

There are several ways to extract from the Internet.

 

(1) Using bookmarks and cross-references: Numbers and references of references
The procedure is as follows:
(1) Add several documents at the end of the Word document, such:

[2] Peter weverka. Diane poremsky. Chinese Word 2002 expert. Beijing: Machinery Industry Press, 2002

Note: The automatic number of word should be used in the input. If the word does not have an automatic number, you can insert it yourself (this does not need to be detailed ...)
(2) create a bookmark for each document. For example, select "Yang xiuzhang. Word 2000 ", insert-bookmarks, enter the name of the bookmarks (Yang xiuzhang _ Word 2000 ), and then add. Note that the name of a bookmark must start with a letter. It can contain numbers but cannot contain spaces. It can be separated by an underscore. Otherwise, it may not be inserted. It is recommended that the bookmark name be the same as the document name so that you can still recognize it after its position changes. (Figure 1)

 

(3) At the location where you want to reference the document, insert, reference, and cross-reference the document. Select bookmarks for the type, select the project to be referenced, and select "section number" for the content ". Now, the reference is complete! (Figure 2)

 

After the entire document is edited, select all and right-click "Update domain" to change the number to the latest position of the document.

 

There is also a reference by inserting a footer.

 

1.
Move the cursor to the place where you want to insert the reference. In the menu, "insert" -- "footer and tail note ".

2. Select "tail note" in the dialog box, and select "auto number" for the numbering method. We recommend that you select "end of section" for the position (for the thesis ).
3. If "auto number" is not an Arabic number, select "option" in the lower right corner and select an Arabic number in the number format.
4. After confirmation, A supermark "1" is inserted here, And the cursor automatically jumps to the end of the article. The front is a supermark "1", which is the place where the first reference is entered.
5. change the format marked as "1" at the end of the article to normal (remember to change the format, rather than delete it and re-enter it; otherwise, the reference will be moved in the future, the serial number will not change), and then enter the referenced document after it (the format is slowly lost according to the requirements of the magazine, as if there is no way to simplify it ).
6. Double-click "1" in front of the reference document, and the cursor will return to the place where the reference document is inserted in the content of the article. You can continue to write the article.
7. insert the end note again in the next place where you want to insert the reference document. A "2" (word is automatically sorted for you) will appear, and enter the reference to be inserted.
8. after all the documents are referenced, you will find a short horizontal line before the first reference (in the page view, there is a long horizontal line in the Cross-page. These lines cannot be selected or deleted. This is the marker of the Final attention, but generally there is no such line in the format of scientific papers, so you must delete them.
9. Switch to the common view, and choose "View"> "footer" from the menu. The edit column of the End note appears at the bottom.
10. Select "tail note separator" from the drop-down menu on the right of the tail note. Then, the short horizontal line appears, select it, and delete it.
11. Select the "tail note continuation separator" from the drop-down menu. This is the long horizontal line. Select it and delete it.
12. switch back to the page view. The references have been inserted. At this time, no matter how the article changes, the reference documents will be automatically sorted. If deleted, the references will automatically disappear and no errors will occur.
13. The more references, the greater the advantage of this method. When I was writing my graduation thesis, I used this method to insert references in different sections!
There is a small problem:
If the same reference is referenced, only the last note can be inserted in the previous reference, not both. After the document is modified, the reference document number inserted after the document is not changed automatically.
