Changes after Doc is converted to HTML

Converting in Word 97, when you save a DOC-formatted document as an HTML-formatted document, Word closes the document and then answers in Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) format. This is then displayed in Word similar to how it appears in a Web browser. Formatting and other items that are not supported by the authoring environment are deleted from the file. The annotation system deletes the annotation that you inserted with the annotation command on the Insert menu. tab tabs are converted to HTML tab characters and appear as "&#9" in the HTML source. Tabs appear as spaces in some Web browsers, so you can use indents or tables instead.

The result of the domain field is converted to text, and the field code is deleted. For example, you are inserting a date field, which will be converted, but the date will not continue to be updated.

Directory and index information is converted, but indexes and directories, and table of figures are not automatically updated after conversion because they are based on field code. The table of contents displays an asterisk at the page number, which is a hyperlink that we click to roam through the Web page. You can also replace the asterisk with the text displayed by the hyperlink.

Drawing objects The drawing objects described here are such as AutoShapes, text effects, text boxes, and shadows, and graphics objects cannot be retained. We can insert the Word picture object to use the drawing tools in HTML document authoring.

Formulas, charts, and other OLE objects convert these items to GIF images. The appearance will remain, but you cannot update the items.

Revision marks changes that are made with the change feature are preserved, but the revision marks are removed from the system.

Page borders there is no corresponding content for the page border in the HTML document. In an HTML document you can use the background command on the Format menu to add a background to make the page more appealing. Header and footer HTML documents do not have headers and footers in their content, nor do they correspond to footnotes or endnotes.

The style user-defined style is converted to a direct format. For example, if you convert a style that contains bold and shaded formatting, the bold formatting will be left in a direct format, but the shadow format will be lost.
