commands for viewing memory under Linux

Top can display system memory. The special tool that we use to view content under Linux is the free command.

The following is an explanation of the contents of the Memory View free command output:
    Total: The amount of physical memory.
    Used: How large is used.
    Free: How much is available.
    Shared: The total amount of memory shared by multiple processes.
    Buffers/cached: The size of the disk cache.

To view memory:
Less/proc/meminfo

Cat/proc/meminfo

To view the CPU:
Less/proc/cpuinfo
