Connect to the Ubuntu Server through Remote Desktop Connection

Just like managing Windows servers, you can use the Remote Desktop Connection tool to manage Linux servers. Not to mention, you can! Because the Remote Desktop Connection tool in Windows controls remote computers through the RDP protocol, we only need to install the remote control server and RDP protocol on Linux and configure it slightly, you can also allow Linux to support Remote Desktop Connection.

The configuration process is as follows: (Ubuntu 13.04 is used as an example)

1. Install GNOME on Ubuntu 13.04, and then log on in the GNOME interface mode: (skip this step if you have installed GNOME)

Sudo apt-get install gnome-panel

2. Install the RDP protocol and the TightVNC server:

Sudo apt-get install xrdp
Sudo apt-get install vnc4server tightvncserver

Note:

If the error "unable to locate package XRDP" is prompted when installing the xrdp package, you need to enter

Apt-get update

Command to update the software package list to ensure that the software package list on the machine is up-to-date.

3. Install the gnome session fallback package, configure XRDP, and restart:

Sudo apt-get install gnome-session-fallback
Echo "gnome-session = gnome-fallback"> ~ /. Xsession
Sudo/etc/init. d/xrdp restart

After the above three steps, we can log on to the Ubuntu system through the "Remote Desktop Connection" tool that comes with Windows.
