Cygwin installation configuration for Linux development environment under Windows

Download Installation Cygwin

We can go to Cygwin's official website to download the Cygwin installer, address is:

http://www.cygwin.com/

or download the installer directly using the download connection, the download connection is:

Http://www.cygwin.com/setup.exe

After downloading completes, runs Setup.exe program, appears installs the picture. Direct "Next" appears in the Setup Mode dialog box, as shown in the following illustration:

We see three installation modes: Install from the Internet, which is installed directly from the Internet for faster speeds, Download without installing, which downloads only Cygwin packages from the Internet. but not installed; Install from local Directory, this pattern corresponds to the second pattern above, and you can use this mode to install Cygwin locally when your Cygwin package has been downloaded locally.

From the above three modes to choose the appropriate installation mode, here we choose the first installation mode, directly from the Internet installation, of course, while downloading the Cygwin component also saved to the local, so that can be installed again later. When selected, click Next.

This step selects the Cygwin installation directory, along with some parameter settings. The default installation location is c:/cygwin/, you can also choose your own installation directory, and then select "Next",

This step we can choose the installation process from the Internet to download the Cygwin package to save the location, after the selection, click "Next",

This step to select the way to connect, select your connection, and then click Next, there will be a selection of the Download Site dialog box, as shown in the following figure,

In this step, it is necessary to note that in order to get the fastest download speed, we first look for the Cygwin China Mirror address in the list: http://www.cygwin.cn, if found, select this address; If you cannot find this address, manually enter the address of the Chinese mirror below: http ://www.cygwin.cn/pub/, then click "Add" and then select in the list. When the selection is complete, click Next.

In this step, we choose to download the installed components package, in order to enable us to install the Cygwin can compile the program, we need to install the GCC compiler, by default, GCC will not be installed, we need to select it to install. To install GCC, we use the mouse to click on the "Devel" branch in the list of components, under which there are many components that we must:

Binutils
Gcc
Gcc-mingw
GDB

The mouse clicks on the component Front Loop button, will appear builds the version date, we choose the newest version installment, the following picture is the selected four kind of component screenshot:

After the selection, we choose the next step, into the installation process, as shown in the following figure,

The time of installation depends on the component you choose and the network situation. After the installation is complete, the installer prompts you to create the Cygwin icon on the desktop, and so on, click Finish to exit Setup.
