When looking at the Dragon Book (Introduction to 3D Game programming with Directx 11), the developer kit used in the Microsoft Directx SDK (June 2010), The development package has also been going on for about 8 years now. Now, Microsoft has actually updated the relevant components of DX with the Windows SDK and no more updates to the DirectX SDK. If you are using Visual Studio 2017, you may find that DX11 development-related header files such as D3D11.h are already included in the system library by default. For the previous Dragon Book project, used some only the DX SDK has the header files, such as: D3dx11.h,dxerr.h and so on. However, in the Windows SDK, these unique header files have also been discarded. In fact, DX11 desktop applications can be developed independently from the old DirectX SDK.
In the following example, I will combine the Dragon book and the official Microsoft Tutorial to develop a DirectX 11 desktop application using the Windows SDK.
