If you have two hard drives, with the dynamic volume features in Windows XP, you can greatly increase the speed of hard disk transmission. First, convert all partitions on the two hard disks to NTFS disk format. Next, open the Disk Management window, using the right mouse button to click on both hard drives, select the "Switch to Dynamic Disk" command in the pop-up menu, and convert all two hard drives to dynamic disks.
Right-click on the black area after the second hard drive and select New Volume command. In the Open dialog box, click Next, and there are 3 options, select Striped volume. Click Next, and the second hard drive will appear in the "optional" list, and in the following amount of space, enter the space to dominate a single hard disk. Click Next to assign a letter to the established partition. Click "Next" and choose to use the NTFS disk format to quickly format the partition, and then click Finish. The gray area that appears in the partition list of the Disk Management window is the new striped volume.
When you open My computer, you will see the newly created partition, which can achieve nearly twice the data transfer rate when the partition is read. Using the same procedure, the remaining space is newly created as a striped volume, which can be used in disguise to enjoy the high data transmission rate of the disk array.
