What is Ravello?

Seamlessly deploy existing data center loads based on VMware or KVM to the Oracle cloud infrastructure, AWS or GCP as they are, without any modifications to the VM, network, or storage. You can obtain network services similar to data centers. This type of service not only provides enterprise-level performance suitable for production load, but also supports cost-effective on-demand scaling and agile development/testing processes.

Background:

You need to migrate the local Virtual Machine to Ravello and access the original application of the virtual machine without any modification ??

Steps:

1. Export the local vmwarevm as a VOF file. Do not use the pd vm. The pd vm cannot export the VM file or use the pd vm to convert the vm to the vmwarevm, the virtual machine will not be able to get started. There is no need to pay a lot of weekly stamps to install Rad Hat or CenOS directly on the vmwarevirtual machine. Of course, Windows virtual machines can also be used.

2. To export files ovf, mf, and vmdk, you only need to import the vmdk.

3, login https://cloud.ravellosystems.com /? If you use your own account, you need to apply for a credit card (300 USD equivalent traffic, you must check the "Don't renew" option, each step is clear) to spend 300 US dollars, if you are buying a company, it is another matter

4. Livrary ==> IMport download upload tool

Select your own upload tool and download it over the wall

5. Install the upload tool

6. Run the Upload File to start uploading VM files.

Select the third option create a vm by uploading exsting dkis files (SiO2, VMDK, QCOW), but I prefer the fourth option, Upload a dis image (ISO, VMDK, QCQW) why is this option selected in the red box? As mentioned later, click start.

Select the file Virtual Machine file to start uploading. It is best to find a bandwidth comparison document for independent bandwidth network upload.

If network fluctuations occur in the middle of the process, resumable data transfer is supported. Select a record and click Resume to continue uploading.

? The upload is complete, and the display is completed (in the fourth mode). This process may last for several or more hours, depending on the network bandwidth of the local machine.

7. Create an Application. In Ravello, the Application is the unit. An Application can contain multiple virtual machines.

8. Enter Empty to create an Empty virtual machine.

10. Modify the HostName (keep it consistent with the hostname of the local Virtual Machine and separate multiple hostnames)

11. Are other optical drives and hard disks deleted ?, Add a disk from image disk? Set this disk as the first startup Item, that is, the files uploaded in the fourth way. This method allows you to create multiple applications based on disk from image without re-Uploading, which is fast and convenient.

Select the uploaded IMAGE File

12. Keep the default settings for DISC and Services.

13. Click Pulish to publish

14. Enter the console

15. The interface is shown as follows. You can also connect to the server by using ssh.

16. Start the service on Ravello and verify whether it passes. the whole migration is completed.
