When using ICEfaces for JSF development, it also supports JSP, Facelets, Portlet, and other technologies.
JSP is well known and is not explained.
Facelets Introduction: Facelets is the abbreviation of the JSF View Definition Framework, namely, the Object-Oriented Java Web application Framework. Facelets supports all jsf ui components and establishes its own component tree to map views to JSF applications. Although JSP and JSF technologies can work well together, Facelets has more advantages. Facelets uses XHTML specifications, saving a lot of JSP Tag; Facelets is similar to the Tiles framework and implements the Template function.
Now we can compare JSP with Facelets:
Advantages of JSP:
1) balance existing JSP applications;
2) many excellent ides support JSP.
Advantages of Facelets:
1) significant improvements in performance and scalability;
2) Quick template/decoration, supporting page reuse;
3) precisely locate error reports;
4) complete support for EL expressions.
Conclusion: Facelets is recommended unless the project is forced to use JSP.
