Cacti monitors total traffic of Huawei 5700 vswitches

In order to monitor the total incoming and outgoing traffic of vswitches, the company tried several different monitoring tools, including prtg, nagios, zabbix, and other monitoring tools, however, it seems that the data is not accurate, so here I try to use cacti for monitoring. The obtained data is very accurate and I will share it with you here.

Step 1: Enable the snmp service on the Huawei switch. This is not very familiar. Ask the network master to enable it.

The next step is to start the operation on cacti.

1. create a new monitoring host and click create devices

2. Select add

3. A new host Phase II Switch is created. Enter the IP address or domain name for hostname (if DNS is available), select monitor host, and select version 2 for snmp version.

4. Click create and wait about five seconds.

6. Select the second-stage switch for the host, select snmp-interface statics for graph types, and list all available ports. If you want to monitor a port, select

7. Because I only need to monitor the total traffic of the switch, I only need to select four ports: XGigabitEthernet0/1/1, XGigabitEthernet0/1/2, XGigabitEthernet0/1/3, and XGigabitEthernet0/1/4.

8. Select In/Out Bits (64-bit Counters) and select create.

9. Next, check the host we added, click the cacti graphs, and the rightmost monitoring button will display our monitoring host. Because the time is too short, the image is temporarily unavailable. You can see the image in about 15 seconds.

10. In a few minutes, you will be able to see the switch traffic.
