Work, you often encounter the need to use Excel processing data is stored in non-Excel format files (such as text files, etc.), if the manual way to collect the data, the actual time consuming and laborious. In fact, we can use the External Data import function of Excel software to quickly import these data, thus greatly improve our work efficiency.
Let's take a text file as an example to explain how to use the Excel data import feature. Let's say we have a text file that holds wages, and its contents are shown in Figure 1:

If you are using Excel 2000, from the "Data" menu, click the "Get External Data" menu item, and then select the "Import text file" menu option; If you are using Excel 2003, start with the Data menu, click on "Guide external Data", and then "import data." menu options. A window that selects the data source appears, the data source is found in the window, and then you double-click it directly. This is followed by a Text Import Wizard to help us import the data into the table step-by-step.
Let's look at the first window of the Import Wizard, as shown in Figure 2:

Select the default setting here, and then click Next to go to the second step of the Import Wizard, as shown in Figure 3:

In this step we can choose a different separator, and can preview the separation effect in real time. Because our text files are tab-keyed, we select the TAB key as our separator symbol.
