To create a virtual machine step:

3. On hardware compatibility, select the default "workstation6.5-7.x"

4. Install the guest operating system and select "I'll install the operating system later"

5. Select the client operating system because you want to encapsulate Windows XP, so choose from the following:

6. Name the virtual machine
Name of the virtual machine: fill in as needed, select xp-3 here
Location: This location refers to the file storage path used by the virtual machine you created, including virtual disk files, snapshot files, virtual machine configuration files, and so on.

7. Processor Configuration
This configures the maximum number of CPUs used by the virtual machine, the number of processors and the number of cores per processor, and cannot exceed the total number of cores of the physical server

8. Virtual Machine memory configuration
Here the configuration created by the virtual machine can use how much memory, XP system recommended 1gb,win7x86 recommended 2GB, note that virtual machine memory can not exceed physical memory, and should be left to the physical computer operating system a certain amount of memory.

9. Network type:
The use of bridging networks is chosen here, because later virtual machine system update patches require networking, so select this option, if you do not need a networked update, you can choose not to use the network.

11. Select disk: Select "Create a new virtual machine disk"

12. Select the disk type (the interface type of the hard disk SATA,IDE,SAS,SCSI, etc.): select "IDE"

13. The size of the hard disk, and whether the virtual hard disk file is stored as one file or multiple files

14. Where are the virtual machine hard disk files stored, by default in the created Virtual machine folder.

15. Prepare to create a virtual machine, which selects "Custom Hardware" to remove unwanted hardware devices, because it is the encapsulation system, to ensure the fewest hardware devices.

16. In the hardware list, remove "floppy disk drive", "USB controller", "sound card", "Virtual printer", then click "OK" and go back to "15." Click "Finish".
