What is PageRank?
PageRank is a tool for Google to measure the importance of a webpage. The measured value ranges from 1 to 10, indicating the importance of a webpage. You can obtain the PageRank value of a webpage at any time on the Google Toolbar. Here, we will take some special features of PageRank to gain a deeper understanding of it, so that the majority of users can better use and understand Googel.

Historical origins of website rankings
When the network was just emerging in the 1990s S, a large number of websites containing special industry content were published on the Internet every day. Online surfers do not have the corresponding tools to locate what they think exists, but there is no way to find the domain name or website. In 1993, Yahoo was born. The birth of Yahoo has mitigated these troubles for netizens. Yahoo initially organized every website it found according to its category and directory, and established a clean database that can be searched step by step, yahoo also adds a search engine on the website to search for the website based on the "Keywords" in the database. Other search engines, such as Altavista, Excite, and Lycos, have successively launched search tools for users. Most of them identify the relevance of the website based on the keywords found in the metadata.

Things seem to have gone smoothly, but when the site owner and the network management realized that they could insert industry keywords or other site code into the metadata, the problem arises when you can cleverly obtain a higher position on the search result page. Some time ago, the search engine results were messed up by these spam websites. They used some related keywords to fill every corner of the website, however, the actual content displayed in front of users is indeed poor. Search engines with high credit and importance are challenged, and they must take better measures to accurately output user search results.

Google webpage level explanation
Google is aware of this problem faced by traditional search engines. If correlation is controlled by network management, the ranking result will be contaminated by a large number of related keywords manually arranged by them, thus masking the real correlation.

A network is essentially a hyperlink. We logically analyze that everyone connects their websites to some important sites. In essence, this site votes each other. When hundreds of thousands of sites are linked to this site, we think this site is a very good and important site and it is very logical.

In this logic, Google's two founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page established a search engine algorithm formula, which transfers the proportion of rankings to unexpected factors on the webpage. Their formula is named "PageRank" (named by the Creator Larry Page ). Google uses this formula to calculate the number of websites that are linked to a webpage, and then scores are given from 1 to 10 to indicate importance. The more websites you link to, the higher the PageRank score.
