Make the system faster and more stable

It can be said that almost all computers have been automatically and manually optimized, and many individual users have also installed and run some software optimized hardware. I have published some optimization articles in many media. However, some of my friends and netizens are no longer interested in system optimization. Most of them, the optimization is similar to the Optimization before and after the optimization, and there is no effect on improving the speed and stability! Is that true? In my opinion, the answer is yes ......

However, over the past few months, after I have studied and learned the working principles of hardware and operating systems, I have found that many important aspects of optimization have been ignored. After repeated practices and comparisons, we found that these links play a decisive role in the optimization effect! To sum up, there are roughly nine links. Next I will explain them one by one.

I. Reasonable Use of Hard Disks

What is the rational use of hard disks? First, we need to understand the physical structure of the disk. Partitioned and formatted hard disks are based on slices. A partition consists of several slices. So what is a sector? We all know that a disk is rotated during operation, and the information stored in it is recorded on the surface by a series of concentric circles. Each concentric circle is called a track. The size of a sector is 512 bytes, and an integral ring is a track. A track has several sectors, so we can see that, the larger the volume of a single sector on an external track, the smaller the density. Because the hard disk is mechanically driven, therefore, the faster the head looks for, reads, and writes, and the distribution of partitions is also directed from the outer ring to the inner ring. Therefore, the C disk depends on the d disk, this is why we feel that C disks are faster than D and E partitions.

After understanding the above knowledge, we can use the hard disk properly! Take a new hard disk with a capacity of 60 GB as an example: divide the C disk into 3 to 5 GB (depending on the operating system), change the D disk to 1 GB, and set the E disk to 10 GB, let's just look at the SAVE (which can be divided into F and G disks in half)-it has no impact on the system speed.

How to use it after partitioning is the most critical:

1. Install the operating system on the drive C and install the MwIE, Foxmail, ICQ, QQ, FlashGet, Super Rabbit, Player software, and some commonly used small software such as image-watching software on the drive C. If you use a large Microsoft software such as Office, install it on the C drive. Of course, since we will not use all of these features, we need to customize and install those useful parts to save disk C space! Then, set the virtual memory to the D disk (only temporarily), and then sort the C disk by using the disk fragment program that comes with the system.

2. Use system modification software such as "registry optimization master" to frequently write and delete "My documents", "Surfing cache", "surfing history", and "favorites ". set the folder to drive D. Try to avoid other partitions from generating disk fragments and reduce hard disk performance!

3. install various applications on the E drive. For games, you can install the f drive and G drive to store audio and video files.

4. fragment the C disk again, and then complete the second step below, and then set the virtual memory to the C disk!

Ii. Virtual Memory settings

Setting the virtual memory to a fixed value is already a common "truth" and it is very correct, but most people set it to a non-system partition other than the drive C, and the value is mostly 2 ~ of the physical memory ~ 3 times. Most people think that the larger the value, the better the system performance and the faster the Running Speed! But this is not the case because the system depends on the virtual memory. If the virtual memory is large, the system will start to use the virtual memory when there is a lot of free space in the physical memory, those that cannot be used are still stuck in the physical memory, which will inevitably lead to a reduction in memory performance!

As a result, I started to try from 32 MB memory to MB memory, and found that the above mentioned facts are very correct, the virtual memory should be set to physical memory 0 to 1.5 times (what is the value of 0 times? Is disabled !) It is better, and the larger the physical memory, the smaller the multiples, rather than the larger. When the physical memory is equal to or greater than MB, most PCs can disable virtual memory. In this case, the memory performance is the highest!

As for the specific size of your virtual memory, you have to give it a try, because it is directly related to the number and size of the resident memory software and the software you run at ordinary times, therefore, I cannot give a suggestion. You can set it to the physical memory equivalent before running several large software. If no exception occurs, you can set it to half the physical memory before running those large software. If an exception occurs, you need to increase the value of the virtual memory! And so on, when you find the best value, you just need to set this value to drive C!

Note: If you are using Windows ME and the following operating systems, you can download "MagnaRAM 97" to optimize the physical memory and virtual memory, which is better! In addition, I suggest that you do not use the so-called optimization and memory management software anymore!

3. Reasonably place "Shortcuts"

In most cases, the software we run is usually implemented in a "shortcut" of the software, the hard disk is getting bigger and bigger, and more software is installed, many friends like to put shortcuts on the desktop, which will not only make you dazzled, but also reduce the system performance, and cause the system to become unstable due to excessive resource occupation, therefore, we 'd better control the shortcuts on the desktop to about 10. Other shortcuts can all be placed in the Start menu and Quick Start bar, in addition, the "Uninstall" shortcut of all software is deleted to improve system performance. In addition, try not to have repeated shortcuts.

4. Use security software with caution

The security software mentioned here refers to the real-time anti-virus software and firewall. This type of software occupies a very large amount of system resources and CPU resources (some may be more than 30%). If you do not often go to miscellaneous websites, this type of software is completely unnecessary! This is more practical and convenient than CPU overclocking!

5. Reduce Unnecessary random start procedures

This is an old-fashioned question, but many friends do not know what programs can be banned or what cannot be banned. Therefore, many people have not done this step. With master optimization, this job is much simpler. In "Boot Speed Optimization", Master optimization will prompt you to prohibit or prohibit anything!

In addition to accelerating the startup speed, the benefits of doing so can also improve the stability of the system in operation!

6. Set "Icon cache" Reasonably"

The default Icon cache of the system is usually relatively large, which is obviously a waste, so we need to adjust its value as appropriate, we can use the "Windows optimization master" to check whether the current system has reached the upper limit. How can this problem be solved 〉? About times. Note: Some computers may not be able to use the optimization master for modification. In this case, you can use "Super Rabbit magic Settings" to modify it!

In addition, do not make the desktop background too complex (we suggest setting it as "NONE"). Some friends have made an animated desktop, which has no practical significance, in addition to bringing instability to the system, there is no good effect-after all, we have little time to face the desktop!

7. Set "disk cache" Reasonably"

The default values of the system are usually very conservative, so we need to make some changes. We can also modify the default values in "Windows optimization master", but we only need to manually input numbers, the minimum value of the disk cache can be set to 2048 (KB), the maximum value is set to 25% of the physical memory, and the buffer read/write unit is 512.

Note: This practice will bring great benefits to the stable operation of multimedia software, especially the minimum value setting should not be too low!

8. Right-click menus as much as possible

Many programs will be left in the right-click menu after installation. Many of them are unavailable, but they put a burden on our system. To this end, we can streamline the right-click menu in "Super Rabbit magic Settings" and other software, and usually only keep the commonly used ones! In addition, it is best to delete useless items rather than simply removing the front tick!

This can effectively reduce the loss of response caused by the "new" menu!

9. Suitable display update rate and resolution

Some friends always complain that their video card is too bad, and some video cards are indeed worse, but in many cases it is the illusion that the display update rate is too high ". Generally, you can set the refresh rate to 75Hz or above (if the bandwidth is sufficient, of course, it can be higher), and there is no need to force it to be too high. Resolution is also the same principle. Generally, it can be set to 800x600 or 1024x768. As long as it is enough, there is no need to play the "ultimate" and "Ashes ".

This is more efficient than the overclock speed of the video card!

Conclusion

All in all, when you use this method, you will find that the system is much faster than before! It's also more stable! In addition to the content in this article, there is no harm in simplifying the system after some optimizations are made. Flashy, useless! Please try it, and you will know what else is wrong!
