Cisco's IOS software provides a Command Line Interface (CLI) that allows users to set and manage Cisco 6200. there are two methods to enter the CLI: one is to use the simulation terminal to connect to the CLI for configuration, and the other is to use the Telnet program to connect to the CLI through the Ethernet port, the IP address of the Ethernet port is not set yet, so you can only use the console port to set it first. The steps are roughly as follows (first, make sure that the power supply of Cisco 6200 is disabled ):
· Connect the console port (marked as CNSL) from the console line to the MPC, and connect the other end to the computer through the RJ45-to-serial port connection
· Enable the terminal simulation program. The online parameters are as follows:

· Enable online terminal simulation program
· Enable the Cisco 6200 Power Supply
· Next we will see some messages about the startup of Cisco 6200, which will take a moment: System Bootstrap, Version xx. x [...] [...] [...] Administratively down
· At this time, the screen of the terminal will no longer change. Press Enter and you will see the following screen: c6200 & gt; · The above c6200 represents the name of the machine (which will be explained later ). in this way, the user has entered the CLI of Cisco 6200.
Appendix: commands under the CLI of IOS can be entered as queries. For example, if you do not know how to enter clock parameters, you can enter clock ?, For example, c6200 # clock? Read-calendar Read the hardware calendar into the clock set Set the time and date update-calendar Update the hardware calendar from the clockc6200 # After the clock, the cursor stops at the end of the clock, the user can determine the parameters to be followed based on the output auxiliary message. For example, if you want to set the time, you can then input the clock set? After the set parameter is obtained, what should I do? c6200 # clock set? Hh: mm: ss Current timec6200 # clock set at this time, of course, the cursor will stay behind the clock set to control a place, so as to facilitate the input of parameters. if the input parameter is not enough, the CLI will output: c6200 # clock set 13:32:00% Incomplete command. c6200 # You can press Ctrl-P to repeat the previous command. if you continue to enter it later? : C6200 # clock set 13:32:00? <1-31> Day of the month MONTH Month of the yearc6200 # clock set 13:32:00 if the parameter or format entered by the user is incorrect, CLI will use a ^ symbol to indicate the user's error: c6200 # clock set 13:32:00 19 May 98 ^ % Invalid input detected at '^' marker. so the user can continue inputting in the place indicated by ^? To get the auxiliary message: c6200 # clock set 13:32:00 19 May? <1993-2035> Yearc6200 # clock set 13:32:00 19 May the user can enter the command correctly. c6200 # clock set 13:32:00 19 May 1998
[...] Indicates omitting the intermediate message.
