Virtual machines on Windows Azure in Chinese
Currently, Windows virtual machines on Azure outside China are all in English. Some Chinese software may generate garbled characters. In order to support Chinese characters, you must configure the following: Install a Chinese Language Pack: Enable the VM to support the zh-CN character set, supports the Chinese Input Method to change the region settings: Use the zh-CN character set for non-Unicode programs to change the interface language: display Chinese characters on the windows interface. Let's take Windows server 2012 as an example to see the configuration process: first, if a Chinese application is installed on Windows deployed on Azure, garbled characters may occur:
Next we start to install the Language Pack. In versions earlier than Windows Server 2012, you must manually download the Language Pack to windows and install it manually. In 2012, this process was completely completed automatically, which is a major improvement. Press Win + X. In the displayed menu, select control panel.
Click add a language on the right.
Select add a language
Find Simplified Chinese and add
At this time, the system automatically adds the Chinese Input Method for us, but there is no language pack. Click options on the right
Click Download and install language pack to Download the language pack.
Wait until the download and installation are complete
After the installation is complete, click advanced settings on the left side of the control panel. In the first drop-down menu, you can see Chinese. This indicates that the installation is successful. Click OK.
Restart the VM and then log on to the VM. You can also restart the VM after all the configurations have been completed)
Click "change date, time, or number format". On the Management page, click "Change Region Settings ".
Select Chinese as region settings
After the restart, the Chinese application is installed again and garbled characters disappear.
If you think this configuration is too cumbersome every time, you can capture the configured VM as an image and then deploy the image each time.
