6.3 custom configuration
This section describes how to start and use the WebSphere Application Server Manager (a graphical interface) to customize basic settings parameters for Servlet activities and WebSphere application server components.
1. Start The WebSphere Application Server Manager
To start the manager for The WebSphere Application Server, enter URL: http://your.server.name: 9527/in the Web browser /. Here, your. server. name is the fully qualified name of the host. Note: If you start the WebSphere Application Server Manager in a browser on the same machine where the WebSphere application server is installed, use http: // localhost: 9527/for higher performance.
Manager to start and display the logon page. If you log on to the manager for the first time, use admin as the logon user ID and password. Click OK ". To ensure security, change the logon password. To run the manager, you must support the appletviewer or browser of Java development component (JDK) 1.1.6. Refer to the software requirements in preparing to install the WebSphere application server and view the options.
2. Use the WebSphere Application Server Manager
The browsing area on the left of the manager allows: customizes and configures servlets for different WebSphere Application Server components and sets aliases and filters, establishes and maintains security, and collects and monitors WebSphere application servers, connections, and Servlet data.
(1) customize basic attributes
Before using the WebSphere application server to manage servlets, configure basic settings parameters for Servlet activities and component properties of the WebSphere application server. In the browser area of the manager, click "settings" to display the project page that can be customized with different settings.
L management page: change the user ID and password for logging on to the manager and specify a new port number for the manager.
L connection management page: sets the connection buffer pool to reduce the resources used to maintain connections with data servers (such as IBM DB2 relational database.
L directory management page: specify settings for the directory server to allow security data to be managed from the central location of the Web server, operating system, WebSphere application server, and other software products.
L Java engine page: specifies the Java compiler settings and specifies whether the WebSphere Application Server runs as a part of the Web server for higher performance or as an independent mode for better security.
L session tracking page: specifies the settings for maintaining the status of user sessions (related user request series from the same browser.
L user profile page: specifies the settings for maintaining permanent information about Web site visitors.
L VM page: specify the Servlet alternative path, which allows the Web server to provide different documents based on the different domains specified by the client during the Servlet request.
