There are two main ways to backup MySQL:
Command: mysqldump
Dump Files: Dump file
Main content: Database structure and data (create Talbe/insert)
- Binary backup: This type of backup is done by copying files directly. The specific methods for making such backups are: Mysqlhotcopy, CP, TAR, or rsync can be used for binary backups of the database.
Features in two ways:
First, text format backup, save is saved in the format of text, it is easy to transplant to other machines; however, binary backups need to take into account that the database storage engine used by the current MySQL database does not store files that are independent of the platform being used. Myism and InnoDB do not have to consider the differences in file systems, but Falcon need to pay attention to this aspect.
Second, from the efficiency of the backup, text format backup is through the network, the server and mysqldump data transfer, this way for the large amount of data, it is time-consuming, and the binary backup uses the way the file system is copied, faster than the first one.
Thirdly, the text format backup can only back up the structure and data records of its database, cannot save the log information, and the binary can choose the target files that need to be backed up according to its own needs.
