COUNT
Returns the number of cells that contain numbers and numbers in the parameter list. The COUNT function can be used to calculate the number of input items in the cell area or number array.
Formula description (result)
= COUNT (A2: A8) calculate the number of cells containing numbers in the data column (3)
= COUNT (A5: A8) calculate the number of cells that contain numbers in the last four rows of data in the column (2)
= COUNT (A2: A8, 2) calculate the number of cells in the data column that contain numbers and the number of cells that contain the value 2 (4)
Example
1. As shown in the following figure, I have prepared two tables. Now we want to merge the data in the number columns of the two tables. For example, I click cell A2: A17.
2. Now in cell A2, enter the formula = count ($ A $1: A1) + 1
Note: based on the Excel help file, the COUNT function calculates the number of cells containing numbers and the number of numbers in the parameter list.
