In the association with many computer novices, found that their biggest trouble is that the Windows system is too large, learn not to know where to start.

In fact, Windows seems huge, but also by a module, to proficient in Windows from the module to start. In Windows, Control Panel is a fairly important module, and for beginners it is necessary to get a step-by-step view of Windows operations from the Control Panel.

"Disk Management" is not easy

Disk Management is an important component in Computer Management in the Control Panel. Disk Management tools allow you to make a clear list of all disk conditions and manage individual disk partitions. For beginners, disk management tools allow them to perform important operations without the help of Third-party disk utility software. For example, the computer installed a dual hard drive, the disk character confusion, you can use the Disk Management tool with Windows directly change the letter.

Disk Letter Easy to change

A friend recently found me, said his computer CD drive letter and hard drive letter is not normal, the CD drive letter is D, hard drive letter C, E, F, G, requires the D disk and G disk Exchange. Changing the letter in Windows is a bit difficult, and if not, it can affect the stability of the system. Of course, once you've learned to replace the letter with the Disk Management tool that comes with windows, things get a little easier. Now let me show you how to use Disk Management to replace the letter.

STEP1 Open Disk Management

In Windows, the Disk Management feature must be used for drive replacement, so where can this tool be found? To tell you the truth, the tool is still a little hidden, so let's pull it out today.

Click start → control panel → admin tools → Computer Management, which will pop up a Computer Management window like Figure 1. Select Disk Management in the left pane and click to see all of the computer's disk conditions in the right pane.

Note: Disk Management can also format partitions, create new partitions, and view partition properties in addition to disk replacement.

STEP2 Change hard drive letter

It is necessary to explain here that, due to the CD-ROM drive and the hard drive letter swap, so you must first replace the hard drive letter to a free letter, and then the optical drive letter directly to the hard drive used by the letter, and then replaced the free disk letter of the hard drive replaced by the first use of the drive letter, so as to achieve the purpose of the swap letter.

According to this idea, we first to the hard disk letter operation. Here we select the hard drive G, right click and select "Change Drive name and path" in the pop-up menu (Figure 1). Click the Change button in the pop-up dialog box, pop the "Change Drive Letter and Path" dialog box, click "Assign the following drive", and then clicking the Drop-down button on the right, select a free letter, such as K. So far, we have successfully changed the letter to Disk G.

Note: If you are replacing a section directly with a free letter instead of an interchange letter, you can simply select the specified free letter.

STEP3 Change Drive letter

The next step is to change the CD drive letter D to G, which is similar to the operation of the hard disk. Right-click the CD drive letter D, select "Change drive name and path → change → select new drive letter" in the pop-up right-click menu, select G Letter in the Drop-down menu, click OK button. Follow the same procedure, change the hard drive K to D again, and restart the computer.

So far, we have successfully swapped the optical drive with the hard drive letter.

The partition size is casually adjusted

Many times, we need to adjust the hard disk partitions. This requires that you use Disk Management tools to make zoning adjustments. Here we are divided into two partitions with the F disk as an example.

Note: Although this adjustment does not cause harm to the operating system, the partition data is lost after the change. So be sure to back up the important data before you adjust it.

STEP1 Delete a target partition

Open the Disk Management option, right-click the F disk letter, select the "Delete logical drive" option, and in the Open dialog box, click the Yes button (Figure 3), at which point the F disk becomes the "free space" status (Figure 4).

STEP2 New Partition

Right-click the free space letter, select new logical Drive, and open the New Disk Partition Wizard dialog box. Click the Next button to enter the Select Partition Type dialog box, select Logical Drive, and then click Next.

In the Specify Partition Size dialog box, you must enter the size of the hard disk partition that you want to re-create in the partition size box as needed. Then select the letter and path, and continue clicking the Next button to format the partition.

STEP3 format partition

If you want the new partition to be recognized by the system, you must format the operation. In the Format Partition dialog box, you are prompted: "To store data on this disk partition, you must first format it." When you have finished setting and click Next, you will see a dialog box that is completing the New Partition Wizard, and then click Finish to format the partition you just created.

In the same way, it is ok to divide the remaining hard disk space into another partition as needed.

Note: In the file system in the format this partition by setting this option, you must specify whether to format with FAT32 or NTFS partition format. Both the allocation unit size and the volume label can take the default values. Also, don't forget to select "Perform Quick format."
