How to Set a Linux Superuser password

This is the Ubuntu method:
First, remove the root lock and set the password for the root user.

Open the terminal and enter sudo passwd.

Password: <--- enter your current user password

Enter new Unix Password: <--- New Root User Password

Retype new Unix Password: <--- repeat the New Root User Password

Passwd: the password is successfully updated.

2. Change logon to allow root logon.


Open System> System Management> logon window)

Click the "Security" option page and select "Allow Local Administrator Logon ".
