How to set up a myeclipse JDBC data source

1. Create a myeclipse JDBC data source

(1) Open the report design perspective by selecting Windows>open perspective>myeclipse.

(2) Start Report Designer by creating a report or by opening an existing report.

(3) in the Database Explorer, right-click Data Sources and select New data Source.

If this view is not visible, select Window>show view>other, expand MyEclipse Report Design, and select data Explorer.

To create a new data source

(4) Select the type of myeclipse JDBC data source,MyEclipse Derby DS in the Data Source Name field, and then click Next.

(5) Select MyEclipse Derby from the Driver drop-down menu and click Finish.

If you want to create a new myeclipse JDBC driver, click the link to create a new driver. You can also use the Edit driver link to edit an existing driver.

(6) Enter a descriptive name in the general properties of the data source.

The new MyEclipse Derby DS data source appears in the Database Explorer view.

During the creation of a new myeclipse JDBC data source, the Database Explorer's JDBC driver properties, link URLs, driver class names, user names, and passwords are copied to the report file. In addition, the Database Explorer's JDBC driver's jar file is copied to the folder,/webroot/web-inf/report-engine/platform/plugins/ Org.eclipse.birt.report.data.oda.jdbc_/drivers. These jar files are deployed along with the report Web project.

2. Edit the myeclipse JDBC data source

During the life cycle of a myeclipse JDBC data source, you may need to rename the data source or change the myeclipse JDBC driver to bind to the data source.

2.1 Renaming a data source

To rename the data source, right-click the data source in Database Explorer and select Rename. The name you use for the current report must be unique.

2.2 Changing the MyEclipse JDBC driver to bind to a data source

(1) In Database Explorer, expand the data source, right-click the data source you want to modify, and select Edit.

(2) Select a new MyEclipse driver from the driver drop-down list and click OK to submit the report you changed.

If you change the associated MyEclipse driver, the driver jar (s) for the new driver is copied to your project.

Because the MyEclipse JDBC data source is connected to the MyEclipse JDBC driver, the JDBC property of the data source cannot be edited directly in the data source. To change these properties, you must edit them in the relevant Database Explorer driver.

3. Manually synchronizing the JDBC data source

The old JDBC data source state can persist after the report tool's description in MyEclipse is automatically synchronized. This happens for a number of reasons. For example, in a project where the data source validator cannot detect the old data source, the project is closed, and therefore these resources are not available in the synchronization window. In such cases, you can manually synchronize the JDBC data source.

(1) In Data Source Explorer, right-click the old JDBC data source and select Edit.

(2) In the list on the left, select MyEclipse JDBC data source and click Sync Driver.

When you preview the results in the Report Designer preview page, the report data source is connected to the MyEclipse JDBC driver, and the JDBC properties of the associated Database resource Manager JDBC driver are used to establish the database connection, which may be stored in your report file. At run time, the JDBC property is used in your report.

If you provide custom data source bindings, the properties of these bindings take precedence over the JDBC driver properties of Database Explorer, as well as for preview operations. If an incorrect property value is specified, the database connection may not be successful.
