Create a virtual hard disk with VHD
First, load the disk volume. On the "start" page of Windows 8, click the "desktop" icon to enter the desktop environment. Move the cursor to the lower-left corner of the desktop taskbar. After the start icon is displayed, right-click the icon and click Disk Management in the Start menu (see figure 1 ), to open the "computer management" program. Then, click "Disk Management" in the left-side frame of the window. After that, all disk volumes will be loaded under the frame on the right side of the window.

Create a VHD virtual hard disk. Open the "computer management" program, right-click the "Disk Management" icon in the left-side frame of the window, and click the "create VHD" menu (see figure 2 ), open the Create and attach virtual hard disk dialog box. Next, click the "browse" button under the dialog box and select the location of the virtual hard disk (here, the file path is "E: \ image library" and the file name is "123456 "), click the "save" button and return to the previous dialog box. The "virtual hard disk size" can be set at will, as long as it is not greater than the available space of the disk partition, set it to "10000" MB as needed. Select "VHD" and "fixed size" under "virtual hard disk format" to keep the space of the virtual hard disk unchanged. Click "OK" to complete the creation (see figure 3 ).

Attach a virtual hard disk (attach a virtual file ). Double-click "computer" on the desktop, and then open the "new volume (E :) & rarr; image library" window. On the "123456" file icon, right-click the created VHD image file and click the "load" menu to complete file loading. Open the "computer" on the desktop again, and the virtual hard disk icon does not appear. You need to initialize the virtual hard disk.

Finally, initialize the disk. In the "computer management" window, right-click the "Disk Management" icon on the left of the framework, and right-click Disk 2 under the window, in the pop-up menu, click "initialize disk" (see figure 4) to open the "initialize disk" dialog box. Next, select "disk 2" under "select Disk" and select "MBR (master startup Record )". Click OK to open the new simple volume wizard dialog box. After you click "next", the "specify volume size" dialog box appears. After "simple volume size", enter the size of the new volume. Enter "9997" here ". Next, click "next". In the "assign drive letter and path" dialog box, click "assign the following animation number (A)" to automatically allocate A "G:" disk. Click "next" to display the "format partition" dialog box. Select "format this volume according to the following settings" and the subsequent settings do not need to be changed. Check "execute quick formatting" and click "next". The "creating simple volume wizard" dialog box appears shortly after you click "finish. After the computer is restarted, a new volume G: disk appears under the computer.

Encrypted VHD virtual hard drive
With the above method, the virtual hard disk can be accessed by all users on the system. How can this achieve confidentiality? When users store private files on this virtual hard disk and need to leave the computer, we can use the "offline" function to keep them confidential. Go to the "Disk Management" program, right-click the virtual disk icon "G:", and click "offline, the virtual hard disk does not appear in the computer. To use the virtual hard disk, right-click the virtual hard disk icon "G:" Under the "Disk Management" program and click "online.
The VHD file corresponding to the virtual hard disk. We can save it to any location on the hard disk, or even to the Windows directory. In this way, you can hide the file to the Windows file ocean. No one will find the file easily. You must be familiar with the Windows system. Of course, you can remember the file name. When necessary, you can change it to (*. VHD.
BitLocker encrypted virtual hard disk
The more advanced encryption method is to use BitLocker to encrypt the virtual hard disk. After you enable BitLocker encryption and use a high-strength password, you can rest assured that the private files stored in this virtual hard disk can be instantly obtained by others, without a password, you cannot open and view the private files stored in it. BitLocker has two main working modes: TPM mode and USB flash disk mode. To achieve higher security, we can also enable these two modes at the same time. The TPM model requires that the computer must have a TPM chip no less than version 1.2, which is provided by hardware and not provided by home computers or ordinary commercial computers. Therefore, the USB flash drive mode is used here. After all, this mode is suitable for most users.
Open the "computer" program on the desktop, double-click the "open control panel" icon in the window to enter the "all control panels" window. Click the BitLocker Drive Encryption icon to view the interface of the BitLocker drive. All the local hard disk partitions of the currently installed computer are listed here. Click on the partition where you want to encrypt "add Volume E:". Expand the menu and click the corresponding "enable BitLocker" link, open the "BitLocker Drive Encryption" dialog box (see figure 5 ). Then, select the BitLocker working mode to be used. Here, the USB flash drive mode is used. Select "unlock drive with password", enter a password of more than 8 digits after "enter password", and then re-enter the password. Then, click "next" to display the "how do you want to back up and restore the key" dialog box.
Figure 5
Next, we can see the interface for saving and restoring the password. Here we need to decide how to recover the password. Click "Save to file" and click "next". In the "Save BitLocker recovery key as" dialog box, select the location where the key is to be saved and follow the prompts in the window, click "Save & rarr; yes" to save the password (note that the password cannot be saved to the encrypted disk and root directory), and click "next" in the displayed dialog box, the "whether to encrypt the drive" dialog box appears. Then, click "Encrypt" to perform encryption. The encryption operation takes some time, depending on the size of the encrypted disk and the computer configuration. It took about 5 minutes to complete the encryption of 10 GB space. After the encryption operation is complete, click "finish. After the above operations, the BitLocker function is successfully enabled. After you open the "computer" on the desktop, you can see a lock on the "local disk (G. Double-click the disk and a password box will pop up. You can view the information on the disk only by entering the correct key. It does not matter if we forget the password. Click "more options" under the password box, then click "enter recovery key", and enter the backup key.
Separate VHD encrypted virtual hard disk
Finally, you can use the "detach VHD" function to keep the VHD confidential. Open the "Disk Management" program of your computer, right-click the "G" disk on the virtual hard disk icon, and select "detach VHD. After the computer is restarted, the virtual hard disk is invisible to the computer. To use this virtual hard disk, you only need to use the "add VHD" function. The procedure is as follows: Open the "computer management" window again, and then click the "Operation & rarr; attach VHD" menu in the window to open the "attach virtual hard disk" dialog box. Then, click the Browse button, find the virtual hard disk file "E: \ image library \ 123456. VHD", and click OK to complete the virtual hard disk loading.
At the end: How to cancel the encrypted password. Double-click "computer" on the Windows 8 desktop, right-click "local disk (G :)", and then click "Manage BitLocker" to open the "BitLocker Drive Encryption" window. Under the local disk (G :) project, click "disable BitLocker" and click "disable BitLocker" in the pop-up dialog box to perform the decryption operation. This process is the opposite of encryption, therefore, a certain amount of processing time is required. In addition, BitLocker Drive Encryption can only be used in Windows 8 or later versions.
