How to verify that the DB2 database is backed up successfully

Successful backups are important for DB2 users, so how do you make sure that your backups are successful? DB2 provides a very simple verification tool DB2CKBKP.

To give a simple example:

On AIX, we made a backup of a database named sample, backed up with a sample.0.db2inst1.node0000.catn0000.20041123142456.001 file name.

Here is the output of our run DB2CKBKP. If you see successful information, the backup media is available and you can safely restore it with that backup. Note, however, that the command can only verify that the backup media exists on the disk and that it is not available on the tape.
