Install fedora10 on a hard disk in Windows

After an afternoon, I finally installed fedora10 on the hard disk. Before the installation, I have referred to the methods of many netizens, most of which are versions earlier than 10. The steps for installing fedora10 on a hard disk are not the same as those for the previous version, but there are several different steps. I didn't realize it until one afternoon, now I will sort out the entire process.

 

The operating system of my machine is Windows XP, drive C is in NTFS format, and drive d to drive F is in FAT32 format.

 

Installation steps:

1. Use partitionmagic to split 20 GB space from drive F. In fact, more than 6 GB space is enough.

2. Download grub4dos-0.4.3.zip from http://grub4dos.sourceforge.net.

3. Create a C:/boot/grubfolder on drive C, decompress grub4dos-0.4.3.zip, and copy all the extracted files to the C:/boot/GRUB folder. Modify the menu. LST file in the C:/boot/GRUB folder and add

Title install fedora 10
Kernel (hd0, 0)/vmlinuz
Initrd (hd0, 0)/initrd. img

Copy the grldr file in the C:/boot/GRUB folder to the C root directory.

4. Slave. Decompress all files from the Fedora-10-i386-DVD.iso to the d:/fedora10 folder, and then copy the Fedora-10-i386-DVD.iso to the d:/fedora10 folder. Copy the initrd. IMG and vmlinuz files in the D:/fedora10/isolinux folder to the C root directory.

5. Open the boot. ini file: Right-click my computer-properties-advanced-settings (the startup and fault recovery column)-Edit to open the boot. ini file. Add C:/grldr = "Install fc10" at the bottom to save the configuration.

6. restart the system, select install fc10, enter the grub boot program, and then select install fedora 10 to start installation.

7. after the installation, the most critical step is to install fedora10 and install the previous version of the difference is to select the mirror file that step, because I was to extract the Fedora-10-i386-DVD.iso IN THE D disk, so I chose/dev/sda5. /Dev/sda6 corresponds to the edisk, And/dev/sda7 corresponds to the f disk. Then fill in/fedora10 in the text box below, this directory is the file that I store the extracted Fedora-10-i386-DVD.iso, the installer will find install from the fedora10/images directory. install the image file IMG. Then confirm to continue.
