I deleted ubuntu10.10 yesterday and installed version 12.04. It feels good. But today, the Chinese Input Method is half-dead all day: I used scim on Ubuntu, but in version 12.04, many programs do not support scim, such as gnome-terminal, Firefox, gedit. Later, I happened to see how to use the ibus Input Method framework to solve the Chinese Input Method on the Internet. After installation, I felt pretty good.
The installation procedure is as follows:
Enter at the terminal:
$ Sudo add-Apt-repositoryppa: Shawn-p-Huang/PPA
$ Sudo apt-getupdate
$ Sudoapt-Get install ibus-GTK ibus-qt4 ibus-pinyinibus-pinyin-db-open-phrase (This step is enough. The following steps are repeated)
Next, use the taskbar-Input Method-After restarting.
Enter at the terminal:
$ Sudo apt-Get installibus-pinyin ibus-pinyin-db-android
Or clickApplications-> UbuntuSoftware Center
Search in the search box on the rightIbus-pinyinAnd installIbus-pinyinAndIbus-pinyin-db-android.
-
After installation, click dashhome in the upper left corner, enter ibus, and press Enter. After the ibus is started, a keyboard icon will appear in the launcher on the top of the desktop. Right-click it and click preference to set properties.
You can pressCTRL + SpaceSwitch the input method of English and pinyin.
Enter at the terminal:
$ Sudo apt-Get installibus-table-wubi
For other operations, use Alt + shift on the left.
Switch to Pinyin and five strokes.
Perform the following steps:
$ Sudo add-Apt-repositoryppa: ibus-dev/ibus-1.3-lucid
(Add PPA in this step)
$ Sudo apt-Get installibus-sunpinyin
Other operations are the same as above
The reason why Ubuntu 12.04 does not support scim:It may be that the new system has integrated the ibus Input Method Framework, and the two have a conflict
Ibus Introduction: ibus stands for Intelligent Input bus for Linux/Unix OS, which is the next-generation Input Method Framework (or "Platform") and supports multiple input methods. The project is currently available in Google Code-http://code.google.com/p/ibus/this project includes the text input requirements for the majority of languages in the world. It is maintained by developers from multiple countries in the world. It exists to replace the old scim, and most Linux releases have replaced it
Related questions:Question 1: select the built-in Ubuntu SystemPinYin Input MethodYes. It cannot input Chinese and Chinese phrases by default. Please install other ibus-based input methods independently. Problem 2: The ibus1.2.0 version of Ubuntu has a bug, after the backspace key is used to delete characters, the input method cannot continue to work. Use the third-party source of PPA to upgrade ibus to 1.3.6 or a later version. (The official Ubuntu software source has not been updated to the latest to add another question:If you follow these steps, the system cannot load the ibus application every time you start it. You must manually configure the application each time. This is a lot of trouble. If you start ibus automatically after each boot, follow these steps:
No matter which version your system is, find the language support application, find the keyboard input method system setting item (the default value is none), and select the ibus item.
