Installing Ubuntu14.04.3-server systems with VMware virtual machines
0. Preparatory work:
installing VMware
Download the CD image file (ISO) for the Linux system
1. Click File >> new virtual machine, open the New Virtual Machine wizard, select "Typical" and click Next.
2. Select the installation source, select "Install Program disc image file", click "Browse" to find the downloaded ISO file, the software will automatically detect the ISO system information.
3. Fill in the virtual machine name and storage location, preferably not on the C drive.
4. Set the disk capacity size, choose to split the virtual disk into multiple files, so that easy to move (note: If your computer's file system is FAT32, you must choose to split the virtual disk into multiple files, because the FAT32 file system in a single file size can not exceed 4GB)
5. Next you can click "Custom Hardware" to set some hardware properties of the virtual machine, or you can click "Done", and then modify the hardware properties after the virtual machine is created.
6. The creation of the virtual machine is complete, you can select "Turn on this virtual machine" to start installing Ubuntu system, you need to modify the hardware properties, select "Edit Virtual machine settings".
7. Turn on the virtual machine, start installing Ubuntu system on the virtual machine, the first choice language, the default English, can choose according to the need, press ENTER enter the next step.
8. Enter to start the installation.
9. Select the language.
10. Select a location.
11. Check the keyboard layout, select as needed, default No.
12. Select the keyboard, the default is the line, enter the next step.
13. Set the host name.
14. Create the user, enter the user name (this is not the login user name).
15. Enter the login user name (this is the login with the user name, not very clear and the previous difference, the recommendations are set to the same).
16. Enter the password and re-confirm the password, if the password strength is not high will indicate whether to use a low-strength password .
17. Whether to encrypt user files, select No.
18. Set the time zone.
19. Set the hard disk partition, because it is a virtual machine, so choose Use entire disk on the line, no need to install LVM.
20. Confirm the hard drive partition.
21. Select Yes to start installing the system.
For HTTP protocol settings, press ENTER directly on the line.
23. Select Do not update automatically.
24. Select the software you want to install according to your needs, using the SPACEBAR. Enter and wait for the software installation to complete.
25. Install grub and select Yes.
26. System installation is complete, press ENTER to start Ubuntu system.
27. Enter the username and password you just set up to log in and you can use the Ubuntu system.
