After IntelliJ IDEA version 2016.3 is released, a jre environment that can be selected and developed by JetBrains is added during Windows installation. We recommend that you select this environment for 64-bit systems, the normal theoretical results are better than those of Oracle.

System Requirements:

Supported systems: Microsoft Windows 8/7/Vista/2003/XP (32-bit and 64-bit support for each system version)

JDK: Oracle JDK 1.6 or later

Memory: The minimum requirement is 1 GB. More than 2 GB is recommended.

First installation:

IntelliJ IDEA installation is very simple. You do not need to make too many choices. It can be said that it is easy to use Next.

Marking 1 indicates creating a shortcut icon on the desktop. We recommend that you select this option to locate the IntelliJ IDEA installation directory after installation.

Mark 2 indicates associating Java and Groovy files. It is recommended that you do not select this option. Normally, we will open this type of files on a Windows File System to quickly check the content in the file, if IntelliJ IDEA is used for association, the speed of IntelliJ IDEA opening is slow, which is not convenient for us to view.

We recommend that you use EmEditor, Notepad ++, and Other lightweight editors to associate such files on Windows.

During the installation process, the general time required for computer installation is about 1 ~ 5 minutes

The new version has been installed in the old version:

It indicates that I already have an IntelliJ IDEA version on my computer. If I select mark 1, it indicates that the old version on my computer will be uninstalled before installation.

Mark 2. If this option is selected, IntelliJ IDEA uninstalls the old version without deleting the personalized settings of the old version.

In minor version iterations, we recommend that you uninstall the old version and then install the new version. Because minor version iterations generally fix bugs, it does not make much sense to retain the old version.

In major version iterations, we recommend that you retain the old version, that is, Note 1 is not checked. IntelliJ IDEA supports multiple versions installed on one computer.

In the next step, we assume that mark 1 is selected for installation.

Because the old version option is checked in the previous step, the option to delete the old version is displayed.

Option 1: Delete the cache and local history of the old version.
