Java Basic data types

Java has 8 of the basic data types

1. Integral type

Java has four integral types

Type	Storage requirements	Range of values
Int	4 bytes	–2,147,483,648 ~ 2,147,483, 647
Short	2 bytes	–32,768 ~ 32,767
Long	8 bytes	–9,223,372,036,854,775,808 ~ 9,223,372,036,854,775,807
Byte	1 bytes	–128 to 127

2. Floating-point types

There are two types of floating-point in Java

Type	Storage requirements	Range of values
Float	4 bytes	Approx. ±3.40282347e+38f (6 to 7 digits of valid digits)
Double	8 bytes	Approx. ±1.79769313486231570e+308 (15-bit significant number of digits)

3.char type

Char types in Java describe a unit of code with UTF-16 encoding

Do not use char types in programs unless you do need to manipulate UTF-16 code units

4.boolean type

The Boolean type has two values of false and True
