I. FIREWALLD

The dynamic Firewall daemon provides a dynamically managed firewall to support the network "zone" to assign a certain degree of trust to a network and its associated links and interfaces. It has support for IPV4 and IPV6 firewall settings. It supports Ethernet bridges and has separation run time and permanent configuration options. It also has an interface to the service or application to directly add firewall rules.

The system provides an image configuration tool firewall-config, System-config-firewall, which provides command line client Firewall-cmd, Used to configure FIREWALLD permanent runtime changes: It uses the Iptables tool in turn to communicate with NetFilter in the kernel that performs packet filtering.

The most essential differences between FIREWALLD and Iptables service are:

1) The Iptables service stores the configuration in/etc/sysconfig/iptables, and Firewalld configures the various XML files stored in/usr/lib/firewalld/and/etc/firewalld/.

2) using Iptables service each individual change means to clear all the old rules and read all the new rules from the/etc/sysconfig/iptables, but using FIREWALLD does not create any new rules; just run the differences in the rules. In this way, the FIREWALLD can change the setting without losing the existing connection during the run time.
