Using the Shutdown command, the parameters are as follows:

-K     do not perform any shutdown operation, only send a warning message to all users-     r-= Restart the computer     -H= power off and completely shut     down-F  Fast shutdown and Skip     fsck-n fast shutdown without init program-c     = timed shutdown prior to restart

Here's how to use it:

Immediate shutdown: sudo shutdown-h now restart: sudo shutdown-r

Extension methods:

Power off after 10 minutes: sudo shutdown-h +1010:01
