1.2 Modelsim Installation

Modelsim is the industry's most blatant simulation tool, for different applications also have different versions, mainly divided into SE, XE, OEM, etc., here we mainly distinguish between SE and OEM version.

L SE:SE The most advanced and powerful versions in many editions, supporting hybrid simulations of Verilog and VHDL languages, and doing the best in terms of speed and optimization.

L Oem:oem is a version of the design tools that are available with major programmable device manufacturers, such as XE, an OEM version for Xilinx, including the Xilinx company library files, and AE is an OEM version for Altera, which includes Altera's library files. These versions are less powerful than SE, and are sufficient for beginners.

In this we chose Modelsim se10.0c, the most powerful one version, hehe ^_^, next we introduce how to install Modelsim.

STEP1: Click Modelsim-win32-10.0c-se in the installation directory, as shown in. This is for 32-bit systems, and if your computer is a 64-bit system, use the Modelsim of the 64-bit system.

STEP2: Next appears the Welcome installation screen, click Next to install, as shown in.

STEP3: Select the installation path in the red box via browse. Optionally, I will install it in the D:\MODELTECH_10.0C directory and click Next as shown.

STEP4: The next occurrence of the installation directory folder does not exist, whether to create, click Yes, as shown in.

STEP5: We can only choose I do ^_^ when asked if we agree. Click Agree as shown in.

STEP6: Next install, after waiting for a period of time to appear below the interface, asked if we create a shortcut on the desktop, click Yes.

STEP7: After the following screen appears, click Yes.

STEP8: Click Yes as shown in.

STEP9: The sacred moment has come, the installation is basically complete, ask if we want to restart the computer, click Yes as shown in.

STEP10: Unzip the crack in the installation directory and copy the mentorkg and Patch.dll files to the Modelsim directory under the Win32 installation directory, as shown in.

STEP11: Run the Patch.dll file and generate license in a moment as shown in. The license is then stored in the D:\modeltech_10.0c directory.

STEP12: Next to set the system environment variables, the Computer à property à advanced system settings à advanced à environment variable à new, and then variable name input: ls_license_file, variable value is: D:\modeltech_10.0c\ LICENSE. TXT, which is the license directory, then click OK, as shown in.

STEP13: To this Modelsim installation is successful, click on the Desktop Modelsim icon, the interface as shown.
