Notes on installing Oracle 11g R2 on Ubuntu 10.10

Due to a problem with the stability of Fedora 14 in my current version, I decided to change it to Ubuntu 10.10, just because I had used this version for a while and felt that it was superior in performance, stability is also good (for Linux, you can leave it alone ). Oracle 11g R2 is installed under Fedora 14, so the installation directory of the database system is backed up and prepared. The database is stored in other partitions, so you don't have to worry about security issues. After installing the software, you can restore it once. But it became unexpected.

Install Ubuntu 10.10-desktop easily, decompress the original tar file to the installation path, and copy the parameter file to the user's. in profile, the ora user environment is set. bash_profile, but Ubuntu is somewhat different, although it is also mentioned in the description document. bash_profile, but the read priority is still. profile is the highest, which is what I found later when viewing environment variables.

The vim settings of Ubuntu are quite awkward by default. I used to use the basic version of vim to use the tiny version of Ubuntu, which is obviously confusing. I will install basic immediately (Ubuntu is simplified, this is not even installed ). The familiar operation is back. To rewrite the. profile file and the. bashrc file, rlwrap must be installed. Unfortunately, the readline is not installed by default on Ubuntu desktop, and it will take a while. Finally, we installed rlwrap and started to adjust the oracle system.
