Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Task Scheduler
Task Scheduler library -- Microsoft -- windows -- under media center
The disabled scheduled tasks include:
Dispatchrecovertasks
Ehdrminit
Mcupdate
Mcupdate_scheduled
Periodicscanretry
Recordingrestart
Reindexsearchroot

Control Panel --> management tools --> automatic playback
Cancel "use automatic playback for all media and devices ".

Control Panel --> System --> advanced system settings (advanced)
Performance --> Settings (visual effects)
Select custom.
Select only the following items:
Smooth scrolling list box
Smooth screen font edge
Enable transparent glass
Enable desktop combination
Show translucent selected rectangle
Display thumbnails instead of icons
Use Visual styles on Windows and buttons
Use shadow for icon labels on the desktop
