Oracle memory database TimesTen is a relational database optimized for memory, which is an applicationProgramProvides real-time responsiveness and extremely high throughput required by today's real-time enterprises and industries (such as telecommunications, capital markets and defense. (Product data table)
Oracle memory database TimesTen provides real-time performance by changing the assumption that the data stays at the runtime. By managing data in the memory and optimizing the data structure and access accordinglyAlgorithm, Database operations can be executed with maximum efficiency, greatly improving response speed and throughput, and even comparable to RDBMS with full use of high-speed cache disks. Oracle memory database TimesTen can be embedded into applications, which eliminates inter-process communication and unnecessary network operations to further improve the performance of database operations.
Memory databases are often mistaken for being limited to single-user applications and are prone to data loss in the event of server failures. This is not the case for Oracle memory database TimesTen. The row-level locking mechanism with the committed read (committed-read) Isolation makes multi-user and multi-threaded applications very common. The internal record version eliminates lock contention between the read and write programs, providing consistent response time and high-level concurrency. The Oracle TimesTen database is persistent and recoverable. The application can select the acid attribute of the transaction based on its performance requirements. Based on the standard relational data model, you can use SQL, JDBC, and ODBC to access the Oracle TimesTen database. Any developer familiar with RDBMS and SQL interfaces can use the Oracle memory database TimesTen to immediately increase the efficiency of real-time application development.
Oracle memory database TimesTen supports various deployment configurations to adapt to various situations, from temporary search cache to operation data storage, to the key transaction processing system of the task.
Thanks to the mission-critical features of applications, the replication-TimesTen to TimesTen option is added for most deployments to achieve high availability and load balancing. For application-layer caching (such as service-oriented architecture support), the cache connect to Oracle option can expand the memory database into an updatable cache, to manage the data loading and synchronization between the Oracle database and the Oracle memory database TimesTen.
As a memory database, TimesTen stores all data in the memory. How can it maintain its data persistence? And how to ensure high availability?
TimesTen's data persistence is maintained by the datastore and log files on the disk. TimesTen caches data in the logbuffer of the memory for each operation, and synchronizes the data to the log files on the disk asynchronously by the background daemon. TimesTen triggers a checkpoint after a certain amount of dirty logs is collected at intervals to incrementally write the data in the memory to the datastore file on the disk, delete the synchronized log files. Therefore, TimesTen can use these files to automatically recover power loss or other faults.
For high availability assurance, if it is a single node and does not want any data loss, TimesTen can ensure it by setting the durablecommits parameter = 1, that is, each submission is forcibly synchronized to the disk (asynchronous by default). In this case, the database write performance will be affected. Therefore, if we want to maintain high performance and ensure high data availability, TimesTen has achieved the above two points through the replication mechanism perfectly, timesTen maintains automatic and efficient data synchronization between multiple nodes. Multiple replication modes are available between nodes: Active-standby, active-active, active-Standby-disaster recovery, and so on; data transmission modes include synchronization, semi-synchronization, and full synchronization.
TimesTen has four main purposes:
1) primary database: The primary database that provides services for real-time applications. At this time, like other relational databases, as a part of the entire application system: the background database provides data retrieval and update functions.
2) Real-time Data Management: At this time, TimesTen is combined with traditional databases, and real-time data is stored in TimesTen, while a large amount of data is stored in Oracle, timesTen and Oracle use the cache group for data interaction.
3) Message Transfer: At this time, TimesTen serves as a message transfer station and can build a bridge between different applications for message transmission. Different applications use TimesTen, exchange data in the form of messages.
4) data integration points
