In Oracle/PLSQL,BfilenameReturns a bfile locator pointing to a physical lob binary file.

Bfilename FunctionSyntax:

Bfilename ('Directory ', 'filename ')

WhereDirectoryIt refers to a directory object that corresponds to the full path of the file, which is located on the file server.

FilenameIndicates the file name on the file server.

 

This function applies:

  • Oracle 8i, Oracle 9i, Oracle 10g, Oracle 11g

 

Example:

First, we need to createExampledirDirectory object pointing to the path of the file server/example/totn.

Create directory exampledir as '/example/totn ';

Then we can use the bfilename FunctionExampledirDirectory object:

Select bfilename ('exampledir', 'totn_logo.jpg ')
From dual;
