Photoshop Design Retro Simple poster tutorial

Step 1

Open Photoshop to create a new document. In this tutorial I am using the 900 x 1440 pixel size. Fill with black, then edit > Transform > Zoom. Adjust the background layer as shown in the following figure.

Step 2

Go to layers > Layer styles > Color overlay. Choose Brown, I'm using #37281e.

Step 3

After the color overlay, select the stroke. Use 4 pixel size, position is inside, blending mode is color dodge, color is white.

Step 4

Add another layer below the brown layer, fill it with beige, I'm using #edd3aa.

Step 5

Let's enter a picture of a ladder. I use the Shutterstock, you can in http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-39923698/stock-photo-ladder-leading-up-t ... (the photo is charged) find it.

Step 6

Select Image layer, go to image > Adjust > Hue and Saturation. Reduce hue to-170, other settings unchanged.

Step 7

Still on the image layer, select Image > Adjust > Levels. Increase the Black input 87, the middle input 0.93. In addition, output levels use 0 and 130. (Follow your own feelings, do not necessarily have to follow the previous values)

Step 8

Go to layers > Create new adjustment layer > Hue and saturation. This adjustment layer must be placed on top of other layers, ladders and background layers. Increase the brightness to 12.

Step 9

Let's use another image, this time we're using a nebula. I use the Shutterstock, you can find it in http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-1611518/stock-photo-space-heart.html (again the charge drop).

Step 10

Use the Polygon Lasso Tool (L) (pen can also) create a marquee on the yellow sky. Then select the sky image, go to layer > Layer mask > Display selection.

Step 11

Go to Image > Adjust > Hue and Saturation. Reduce hue to 30, saturation to 30, and increase brightness to 13. You can also choose to paint. Refer to the image below.

Now, let's add some text. I added 2010, with the Helvetica Neue Bold font, size 107pt, color used Brown (9e7539). At the bottom of 2010 I also added "Happy New Year" with the Helvetica Neue Light font, the size of 33pt, the same use of brown. At the bottom of the page, I add references to the words Paulo Coelho, using the font Helvetica Neue Regular, size 16pt,. Refer to the figure below.

Step 13

Add a new layer to the top of the other layer and fill it with white. Then go to filter > Render > Lighting effects. The style chooses the RGB lamp, the other value does not change.

Step 14

Go to filter > Blur > Gaussian blur. Use a 120-pixel radius.

Step 15

Reduce the opacity of the layer to 30#, go to edit > Transform > Rotate, rotate the image so that the red will be at the bottom. After that, go to the image > adjust > Color bands. Black input increased to 70.

Step 16

Step 17

Change the blending mode of the paper texture to multiply. Put this layer above the other layers.

Step 18

Go to layer again > Create new adjustment layer > Hue and saturation. This adjustment layer should be placed at the top of the other layer. Reduce saturation to-32 and increase brightness to +28.

Conclusion
