Chop ($STR) function: Removes extraneous whitespace after a string, including new rows;

LTrim ($STR): Remove extra whitespace to the left of the string;

RTrim ($STR): Remove extra whitespace to the right of the string;

Trim ($STR): Removes extra white space on both sides of the string.

These functions are relatively simple, not examples.
